Groton Electric Light Department offers a discounted charger for fully electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrids (depending on battery size).

HELPS Connected Homes Program leverages the technology of smart appliances and devices into cost savings for the light department and its customers. Customers agree to allow their light department to make brief, limited adjustments to their devices during times of peak electric demand and are rewarded with a quarterly incentive check. *Customers previously enrolled in the HELPS EV Scheduled Charging Program are not eligible to enroll in Connected Homes until three years from date of enrollment in the Scheduled Charging Program.

The Massachusetts Municipal Light Plant Solar Rebate Program allows residential customers of municipal light plants to apply for a rebate for the purchase, installation, and usage of PV solar panels on their homes.
The Groton Electric Light Department program includes a solar rebate of up to $1.20/watt, capped at 50% of total installed costs. Eligible solar installations should be 10 kW* or less, with less than 20% shading, and facing between 90 and 270 degrees. Other restrictions may apply.
*Note: GELD will rebate the first 5.5 kW installed for a maximum rebate of $6,600. Rebates are on a first-come, first-served basis and are not guaranteed. If a system is greater than 10 kW, there are additional monthly charges – please call GELD for details.
